After the 2009 season came to an end Tom decided it was the perfect time in the off season to really check out why the Miata’s engine was not producing the horsepower numbers it should. The problems are found really quickly using a compression gauge and a leak down tester. Cylinder #1 has 110 psi and 45% leakage, cylinders 2 and 3 are within specs, while cylinder 4 has 130 psi and 30% leakage. The engine is taken out and sent to get refreshed. After the engine problems were all taken care of a quick dyno check was necessary. Vic Sias of Sias Tuning was able to put the Miata on the dyno and give us the good news, the missing power was back and a couple extra. The proof would soon be shown.
